The position is based in France .
Position Overview :
Own and evolve our permissions and identity platform—raising reliability, performance, and developer ergonomics so every PayFit domain team ships secure, simple experiences. Permissions and identity sit at the heart of trust: as PayFit deepens product quality and moves toward disciplined, product‑led execution, we’re modernizing our authorization and identity foundations. Expectations on security and privacy are rising; product squads need simple, reliable building blocks to deliver value without friction.
Impact - next 12 months :
- Roll out a clear, scalable authorization model and developer‑friendly APIs/SDKs that teams adopt quickly
- Reduce auth‑related incidents and alert noise; meet SLOs for reliability and latency with measurable gains
- Strengthen observability and documentation (decision logs/policies) to shorten MTTR
What will you do :
Design and evolve permissions/identity services with clear contracts, isolation, and failure handling
Provide product‑ready building blocks (APIs/SDKs/policies), examples, and guides for easy adoption
Instrument meaningful metrics/traces; reduce alert noise; improve detection and response
Collaborate with Product/Design/Compliance/CS to deliver secure, simple user experiences
Mentor peers and elevate engineering craft through reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing
This Role is For You If / must-have skills :
- You have 7+ years as a Software Engineer (backend/platform), ideally with secure, multi‑tenant systems, knowing Typescript
- You have strong system design and backend engineering experience in SaaS platforms
- You focus on code quality, testing, and maintainability
- You are skilled in observability (signals, alerts, SLOs) and incident response
- You communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and focus on customer outcomes
- You have a proven record of improving reliability, performance, and shipping safe changes at scale
- You create clear documentation and mentor others
- You manage multiple projects and dependencies
- You are fluent in English (Spanish or French is a plus)
It would be great if you also have / nice to have skills:
Knowledge in authentication/authorization (e.g., RBAC/ReBAC/ABAC)
Experience with Event‑Driven Architecture and Domain‑Driven Design
Experience with policy‑as‑code or advanced authorization models
Contributions to public knowledge sharing (talks, posts, OSS)
Interview process :
1. Discovery Call: Meet a Talent Acquisition Specialist (30–45 min).
2. Discussion with an Engineering manager: Meet Maxime, team’s EM, to discuss technical aspects of your experience (45 min)
3. Technical Challenge & Code Review: Technical challenge with 2 team members (1 hour)
4. Product Discussion: Discussion with Product Manager (45 min)
5. Director Discussion: Final discussion with the Engineering Director of the tribe (30 min).
👉 Background Check (ISO27001 certification): identity, diploma, and past professional experiences will be checked after the offer.
